  • Thank you for your interest in Ladies Let’s Talk (we like to call it LLT for short). We look forward to meeting you in our upcoming Women’s Conversation Program. Here are some common questions and answers to make sure LLT is right for you.

Is Ladies Let’s Talk an English class?

No, LLT is not an English class. We are a conversation group on Zoom where you will be matched with a Volunteer English speaker either one-to-one or in a small group. All conversation is unscripted and is meant to give you practice listening and speaking in English.

What level of English do I need to have to participate in English conversation sessions?

LLT is most enjoyable for learners with an intermediate to advanced level of English.

    Who can attend LLT?

LLT is only for women. We ask that men are not seen on the screen or in the background. Children are welcome to be in the room but we ask that they are quiet.

What do we talk about at LLT?

Every week we discuss a topic that is interesting to women. We talk about everyday things like cooking or health or American culture and how to connect with your new American community. We often ask you to talk about your culture. Our volunteers want to learn about you – and your home country too!

    Who attends LLT?

Our program is headquartered in Austin, Texas but we serve women online who live across the U.S.A. Our learners come from South and Central America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

    How does it work?

We begin every session with introductions. We ask you to tell us your name and your home country. Then we ask you to briefly answer a question about the topic we are discussing. We give a short presentation that may include a new vocabulary word, idiom, or idea. You will then go to a zoom breakout room with a small group to discuss more questions. We ask our learners to talk as much as possible!

    Where does LLT meet?

All of our conversations take place online at www.zoom.us. You are welcome to join using your phone or computer.

    When does LLT meet?

We meet on Thursday 7-8:30 pm Central Time, and Friday 10:30 am - 12:00 pm Central Time.

See our website for the dates we meet. lltaustin.org

How do I get the Zoom link?

On Monday (at 10am Central Time) we send you a text asking if you would like to attend the Thursday or Friday conversation. Follow the instructions on the text to receive the Zoom link.

    Questions?

You can email [email protected] if you have more questions.
